System Restore programs?

First, my computer is a Gateway GT4016 PC with Windows XP Media Center 2005 I recently got a virus, and before he could get rid of him, he deleted all my programs. The icon and the shortcuts are still there, but everything was uninstalled quite (Photoshop, Word, iTunes, LimeWire, Internet Explorer, Firefox, objective, etc) I wondered if I use System Restore and restore to date just days before the virus, which my programs back or simply configuration will change. Thanks for any help

If you need to do it in safe mode and how Heres 1. Log out and reboot your machine. 2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly. 3. Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking from the resulting menu. 4. When the screen logon appears, log on as administrator. By default, Administrator has no password. 5. The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will be different. 6. When you finish doing what you have to do, go out and reboot back to normal mode. Once done and everything is normal eliminate System Restore to evict and bad copies of the virus and Heres how to do it in SAFE MODE, SO http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware Malwarebytes Anti Malware / 3000-8022_4-10804572.html Free Edition, after eliminating the use of this to never happen again Avira 99.8% against viruses http://www.download.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free- Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html? mncol & tag = cdlPid = 10,877,501 Free Edition Comodo Firewall Pro Free Edition http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html Hacker protection with the only evidence Firewall leak test (means Your information is not filtered through the internet) Windows Defender 97.15% Against Spyware Free With Valid copy of Windows http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A- AFA4-F7F14E605A0D & displaylang = En Here are the statistics to prove 08 of octubre http://www.virusbtn.com/Session-f4d7c1965729023bbd8aa25efe1e568b/news/2008/09_02
