3D is back! This is not your father's 3D. This is an advanced 3D technology that once you see it will want to see more! It seems that everywhere we see the movies 3D displays 3D TV, 3D even for your iPhone!

However, there are many questions that 3D applications. How does 3D? What makes it different 3D that came before? What are all these different glasses? Can I see 3D without glasses?

First, some history. The 3D began for millions years with the man. Yes, we all see things in 3D. All human beings have binocular vision. What it means is that we have two eyes separated by a space of 2.3 inches. This allows us to perceive depth and see the world in 3D. This separation causes each eye to see the world from a slightly different perspective. The brain combines the two images into one. Understands spatial differences and uses them to calculate the distance. This is the way in which sense depth and distance.

A simple way to understand this principle is to keep the thumbs up at arms length and cover one eye with your hand. Then try to put your hand over the other eye. How to change between your eyes open you should see your thumb "jumping" back and forth against the background.

Stereoscopy was invented in 1838. There is much debate about the first movie in 3D, but "L '© arriva e du train" filmed in 1903 by Lumia ¨ re brothers. They were the inventors of cinema and is often referred to as the first stereoscopic film history. When he was released, the public panicked because they thought the train was about to crash right into them! The funny thing is that probably was the first of the remakes. The film was remade in the original came out in 1895! And you wonder what keeps remaking Hollywood films. It is practically born to it!

If you're like me then you probably experienced 3D for the first time in his life to that old Viewmaster viewer. You caught that thingy round fun with the slides a little about it as Viewmaster, his eyes glued to both eye and bent toward the Living room table. Suddenly they were transported to a million of places where he felt he could reach out and touch things in 3D. Never mind that it is actually true 3D stereoscopic and would be more like a hologram that is standing in front of you and not the kind I mean CNN. Until then I was hooked!

After that came and went in 3D to appear in several incarnations during the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Titles such as "House of Wax (1953), Robot Monster (1953), Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), Dial M for Murder (1954), Flesh for Frankenstein Frankenstein (aka Andy Warhol's) (1973), Jaws 3D (1983) and Captain EO (1986) to name a few.

Now, fast forward to November 2008 and first 3DX Festival takes place in Singapore. Some of the top luminaries from around the world attended the 3DX Festival to promote media 3D communication, including Jeffrey Katzenberg, DreamWorks Animation CEO, Mark Zoradi, president of Walt Disney Motion Picture Group, Jon Landau, producer James Cameron's 3 D his new film, Avatar, and other directors who are all involved in projects in 3D: Robert Zemeckis, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Peter Jackson.

There are different types, or flavors, 3D. Some put the 3D technology in the vessels, while others put on a monitor or an application high technology. Computers or even the iPhone can handle 3D, but require some additional active components, such as software and applications that were recently established.

The first time 3D technology was created using traditional glasses, red and blue. This is called anaglyph and is very inexpensive, both in cost and performance. Fortunately, with increasing technological advancement that we have many better ways to show 3D media.

Polarized glasses are another common type of 3D glasses. These 3D glasses are obtained in IMAX 3D or in other theaters. Although the job better than the old type of red and blue lenses, these methods require two projectors in the theater and additional layers of technology monitor to work properly. The theater set-up once the costs and additional costs for the polarized glasses can make this method less attractive.

3D screens without glasses is here today. There are different ways in which it is based 3D display technology. One way is to use the display multiple layers of tinted glass as above, which is expensive, but do not need special glasses to view 3D on the screen.
