Assuming Windows updates through Boot Camp work as advertised (which seems to be a big "if", since I could not find documentation how to reconfigure the Boot Camp clients to check with a local SUS and speaks very little of the characteristic), there is no reason why Apple could not extend this support to Windows installations on non-Apple hardware, with the exception of Apple's recalcitrance.
Many PCs already have Apple update software client installed, since the application is installed automatically with iTunes for the past few months.
