While you may hear a lot of negative comments towards the music industry through the illegal distribution of music online, have concern. Since the advent of Napster and other file-sharing communities, the recording industry has lost hundreds of millions of dollars in sales. Some blame can be placed in its conservative approach to promoting artists, opting for the "American Idol" instead of avant-garde artists that can excite the next generation as the Beatles or Van Halen in past decades. It did not use the Internet to distribute music before the unbridled distribution began. But one thing is clear, the CD is in the output.
In recent years, the Compact Disc has experienced negative growth in the market. In fact, the vinyl LP has remained on sale, while the CD is bellowing steam. A couple of reasons for this are the online distribution and the fact that many consumers use Now the CD as a way to extract music from your iPod or similar portable music device.
While I regret the fact that no one sits and listens to an album more, instead using music as a soundtrack to their own lives, there are still ways to distribute their next album. You must use a little creativity and think outside the box, but you can make it work
USB Flash Drive
I do not think that would be the first to do this. It would only to be in the company of established artists such as Matchbox Twenty last year released a full album in USB wristband. The great thing about the USB drive can easily include additional features such as videos, notes, or even alternative file types, such as FLAC or lossless multichannel audio. The USB drives price has fallen dollars each, so not much more than CD playback. In addition, the USB drive can be used for other things (like Personal file storage for work or school), then your fan has been moved to your iPod.
There are several services that offer bulk USB drives loaded with its contents and even printed with your name or logo. Call for the best bargains.
Concept Albums
The distribution online has become increasingly popular once. Now you can choose the songs you want and that the songs are rubbish, many people are downloading their favorite songs and leave the rest alone. I will assume that put all their effort into every song and not create filler, but what some artists are treating the concept album.
Concept albums are centered around an idea or theme. Three times recently launched the first part of a collection of two part concept. Each table includes two EPs, so that the set will have four discs, one for each element: fire, water, earth and air. Similarly, Sufjan Stephens has produced several popular concept albums. Remember, even bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd made concept albums.
These are the albums of fun to produce, but also are fun to collect. They are not something you want for a song.
Creative Packaging
This may be the most expensive, but also fun. Companies such as Invisible Creature specialize in creating one-of-a-kind of packaging for the albums. A lot of creative people such as packaging, and love to collect. Think about what Apple did with its iPod packaging is an adventure just opening the box. Project 86's latest album, rival factions, using a blue box that hides and reveals the different elements in the notes, very similar to what you used to find in cereal boxes.
With proper packaging, fans will have your own album, not just download some songs.
Distribution digital
We all want to sell full albums, but we can not afford to ignore digital delivery. Services like TuneCore can get your album sold through iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, eMusic and more, while you get 100% of sales. This is the future of music sales. Radiohead's most famous provided their album released on their website independently. Some people are collectors and do not really care about a unique experience, just want a pair songs. Enjoy them.
High quality multi-channel audio
Not everyone has access to high quality equipment for recording, but those who do should consider releasing their albums on teacher quality for those who really love their music. Blu-ray Disc is the newest format audio disc that compresses audio to multi-channel 7.1 surround sound. More and more households are included surround sound system and Blu-ray is the explosion in the market, thanks to the Playstation 3. Even two-channel audio sounds better in quality.
Additional features can be added to Blu-ray, as images in Live, documentaries and all that can fit 50GB in space forever. Artists who have released in Blu-ray include Nine Inch Nails, Dave Matthews, John Legend, and Shakira, among many others.
I do not think that they do to Blu-ray. Record companies like Linn Records are offering master quality downloads on its website. Music Stores online as MusicGiants [http://www.musicgiants.com] are also offering downloads of lossless audio and multi-channel audio downloads.
Get Initiated
This is just the beginning. Be creative and try new things. Music and art are going to have to keep it together on the physical plane, so think like a artist and a businessman. This is your moment to shine.
