itunes applications folder windows

itunes takes an hour to load?
iTunes takes LITERALLY about an hour, maybe a bit more, to load up. I thought it was a windows vista issue, but since upgrading to windows 7 it still takes just as long. all my other applications run smooth and fine, i’ve got 4gb ram on a dual core machine, and the drive is defragged. it should not be a system issue.
i do have a couple thousand podcasts and and a few thousand songs, but that’s never been an issue before. I do suspect however i may have moved some song folders around ( i’ve never had itunes managing the files) and it might be trying to find them on the load? not sure, any help would be immensely appreciated. and yes, i’ve tried uninstalling and re-installing and am on the latest v9
just to re-iterate I had the issue for months with vista before upgrading to win7 so it shouldn’t be windows 7 related.
Ok. I don’t know if this will help answer your question, but if you are running windows 7, it is very likely that Itunes hasn’t updated itself for it yet. Another something, like you said could be that you moved some files around, but if they were music files, I can’t see why that would be the problem. maybe try moving them back (this is not guaranteed to work though.) Also keep in mind, that windows 7 isn’t 100% stable yet, and it may work better on on the SP1 release. Here’s something that may, or may not help.

Personally, I think it’s an incompatibility issue with Windows 7. I’ve read that lots of people had problems on Vista with it also. It should not be a computer issue, since it seems that your computer is pretty fast anyways. It also, could be the amount of podcasts and stuff that you have. They’ll likely take a while to load, but not that long.
Hope this helps.
