itunes audiobooks drm
While I am pleased that eBooks are an increasingly popular item for download from the iTunes site, I am disappointed with the iPhone platform. I've been a longtime advocate of books electronic and developed some of the strict requirements for a decent electronic book reader. I'm afraid is simply not a decent eBook reader for the iPhone yet. Sadly, iPhone users do not even seem to know the difference. It seems that the time you can turn the page with the finger-nose mining that's all it takes. The earth is flat, and that's all.
By all measures, is the stanza e-book reader, by far the better choice, and more downloaded for the iPhone and iPod. Get good grades to be able to handle a wide variety of platforms, electronic books and to convert for iPhone use. But apparently loses formatting, in some cases. It has a nice interface for finger-friendly page turning, but lacks an automatic shift function, to readers faster and more lazy. It also wins points for its ability to change fonts, font sizes, font colors and background colors of the page. All this contributes positively to the experience of reading electronic books.
However, the eBook reading experience can be much more powerful. What I eBooks and again immediately won me way back before the turn of the century is being able to tap on a word in any language and have The definition is displayed. That was cool and made me way to eBook reading and neglect treebooks forever. You can not do that in the stanza on an iPhone. What sorry. But then perhaps iPhone readers have such extensive vocabulary and are multilingual so that this function is not necessary and just below dignity.
Other features missing in the iPhone, even the best reader as exemplified in the verse include the ability to make a text, the index entries, and finding them. Speaking of search, the stanza apparently only allow searching within the chapters, not everyone.
What about the ability to create drawings, sketches and handwritten notes in the choice of colors on the pages without destroying the book as you would a Treebook. No, not on an iBook.
What about highlighting text in your choice of color coding? You can not do on an iPhone.
What if you want to copy and paste text from an eBook to another application for research purposes? Sorry, the iPhone is anti-academic on the subject. It would be nice too if reference is made automatically to the source? In fact, as I understand it, you can not copy and paste anything on an iPhone, so it's not surprising that this feature is absent in e-books too.
Another problem is that there is a lack of up-to-date material on the iTunes site. You can not download any bestsellers The New York Times, for example. None of the popular authors are represented. Obviously, you must be a matter of digital rights issues that Apple has not yet resolved. Of course, the same applies to audio books and the lack of it for this platform.
It is sad that iPhone users and iPod can not take advantage of the wonderful free Download software eBooks and audiobooks from almost all public libraries these days due to problems with DRM and incompatible formats.
Reading electronic books is still a far superior experience on Windows Mobile devices. However, I am glad that people are discovering iPhone eBooks. Such time when they learn the difference that it demands that developers take readers up to speed. Reading electronic books and readers will benefit greatly, and that's what matters. Perhaps if demand warranted, even there will be some decent material available to read on iPhones that still has a copyright.
