DeAndre Cortez Way, like Soulja Boy is originally called, was born on 28 July 1990 in Chicago, Illinois. At an early age, he found a taste for rap music, his friends taught him to do. When he came in 8th grade, he and his father moved to Batesville, Mississippi, where he attended South Panola High School. He claims he was grateful for the move to Mississippi, while he and his friend, Abrahim Mustafa, also known as Arabs came with a way to make original rap songs heard over the Internet.

Many visitors have downloaded their music and gave his comments on the style. Because that this attempt was successful, then put his own website, souljaboytellem, later the name of their debut album. In 2004, when he returned to Atlanta, which was handled by Derrick Crooms director, and established his record label, Stacks on Deck Entertainment. In 2007, Soulja Boy hit the airwaves with his single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" that not only launched a dance craze across America, but not even hit the top spot in the Billboard Hot 100 in September and October 2007. s
Since its launch, Soulja Boy has made several appearances, including MTV's Total Request Live, 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in which he performed his single on Jimmy Kimmel Live ABC, BET's 106 & Park and has won the Best Hip Hop Dance at BET Hip Hop Awards 2007. Another hit single from the album is Soulja Girl, which is gaining spot on the charts.
The music video for "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" features appearances from Bow Wow, Omarion, Baby D, and other rap artists. The single was also remixed by artists such as Jermaine Dupri, Twister, Tone-Tone, Travis Barker, and many others. Currently, he and his Arab friend are maintaining their websites, channels and forums, where fans can learn about their work. They continue working with his label, the batteries on Deck Entertainment.
