How good is this laptop?
Okay, I'm ordering a Dell Inspiron 1720, which has the 17 "display. I need to know how well it works for my needs, has to be able to run several things at once (itunes, aim, and Mozilla Firefox for instance). And i plan to use some games (Bioshock, orange box, Far Cry, Crysis probably). Will this smoothly and quickly? I have no idea with the new dual-core processors … The configuration is: Windows Vista ® Home Premium Edition 256MB NVIDIA ® GeForce ® 8600M GT 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 667 MHz 320 GB SATA hard drive (5400RPM) Intel ® Core ™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz cache FSB/3MB) also would be worthwhile to pay me $ 110 to update the Intel ® Core ™ Duo T9300 2 (2.5GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache) or it is a lot of installation fast enough for my needs? There is not any option of a hard disk 7,200 RPM so no, unfortunately I can not ….
Looks like a good game system for me. I'm guessing the slowest piece of your system will be the 5400 RPM HD. Do you can upgrade to a 7200 RPM drive? Otherwise, you're in good shape.
