Getting a jazz (pianist) background to listen to songs.?
I am currently in the process of becoming a great jazz pianist and learn best band pianist more than techniques of the time including the quartet style combo, the band means, and other similar types (???). So what songs are recommended for me. (I would get a good background of the songs of Duke, Benny, and the Earl of iTunes)
and if you are looking for style big band, the Duke and the count are definitely very good. whether to use counting technique, listen to some of the issues he and his orchestra recorded and attention a little how to play, but he is really complement the orchestra and carefully selecting the perfect notes to play. duke is very different. complements the band yet however well you play much more and I find the Duke of humor to play more Basie. these are actually two very different personalities. listen to any of his recordings. all are good. quartet play however, is totally different. Quartet for the game, listen to McCoy Tyner, when he was with Coltrane, Bill Evans listen to anything other than work trio (because that is totally different) and listen to Herbie Hancock, when he was younger, like the band miles before reaching more fusion / rock sort of thing. more goals, but I feel I've rambled too long

Dashing trumpeter Alpert and his Tijuana Brass scored five top-20 hits between 1962 (when “The Lonely Bull” climbed to No. 11 in the U.S.) and 1968 (when the vocal-drive… |

Tony Bennett – American Classic $7.25 High concept and high class, An American Classic is a worthy visual complement to Tony Bennett’s 2006 duets CD of the same name. The notion of pairing veteran artists with a variety of singing partners is nothing new, of course (cf. B.B. King and Frank Sinatra, among many others), but this one goes a step further; under the direction of Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha) and his team, Ben… |
