How do i change the location of songs in itunes?
I need to move my songs over to my new laptop that has vista and the file location will change when i put them on the laptop. All my songs are in individual folders(which i have a lot of) for each album for each artist. Is there any quick way to change the location of all the songs so that i don’t have to go through itunes and reload each folder and playlist on the new laptop???
The easiest way to do this would be to create backup discs in iTunes. I’d recommend DVDs if your old computer has the capabilities since if you have a lot of songs it would take quite a few CDs to this. The function in iTunes to create these discs can be found on the File menu, under library where you have the option to Backup to disc. It was designed to restore your library if your computer were to crash, but it works well for transferring to a new computer since it preserves all your playlists and everything. If you don’t have the capability to use DVDs, consider using re-writable CDs (CD-RWs) so you won’t waste so many CDs.
