I Want My (Digital) Rights!
It seems unfair … you paid for these songs and now can not play outside the iTunes environment, on hardware not supported by Apple, or operating systems not supported by iTunes.
That's because the iTunes tracks that you purchase and download are in a "protected" AAC or M4P audio format. Just not you who is protected by Apple, or rather Apple's bottom line. Apple explains this by saying that their proprietary format gives superior sound quality, but that's a smokescreen. It's all about DRM and DRM is all about money.
The ability to make copies of copyrighted materials is considered by the recording industry as a threat to its profitability, and perhaps rightly so. DRM (Digital Rights Management) was created by digital media publishers to control duplication and dissemination of its contents. But DRM is actually a misnomer. Because rather than granting rights, DRM actually restricts consumption of doing things perfectly valid and reasonable with music of your property.
MP3 digital audio standard. An MP3 music track can be played in almost any player, whether portable or computer based. You can burn MP3 files on a CD and play very well in almost any modern CD player.
But Apple's iTunes software does not create MP3 files when you buy a song. The files are "protected" and can not be played on a computer that does not have the software iTunes. You can copy to your portable music player, as long as you bought that player from Apple and it says iPod on it. Logically, this makes Linux users and millions of owners of non-iPod music players a little upset.
Convert iTunes to MP3
If you click a music track in iTunes, there is an option to Convert Selection to some other format. It is likely that says "Convert Selection to AAC", it is useless, because iTunes tracks are already in AAC format! Then click Edit / Preferences / Importing then change the use of import the default setting of "MP3 Encoder". Click OK to save these settings. Now when you right-click on a music track, There is an option to "Convert Selection to MP3. But just try it … iTunes will tell you that" Protected files can not be converted to other formats.
Converting AAC to MP3
Bzzzt! Sorry, thanks for playing. It can only convert unprotected formats (such as WAV or WMA) to MP3. So what can we do? Fortunately, there are two ways to avoid this annoying restriction.
Method 1: Burn the track (s) on a CD, then you can open the CD in iTunes and the Convert Selection to MP3 will do exactly what you want. Be aware that you will have two copies of the song in iTunes – One in the original AAC format and MP3 format. You can delete the AAC version if you want.
Method 2: If you have a lot of music, you might have plenty of CDs to convert everything with the "burn and rip" method above. That's where the software JHymn can help. JHymn was created for you to exercise your fair use rights under copyright law, and free will your iTunes music from the restrictions DRM without loss of sound quality. JHymn provides a drag and drop graphical interface for users of Mac OSX and Windows. But at present, not working JHymn iTunes version 6 or higher. If you have an older version of iTunes, keep it, or visit rel = "nofollow" href = "http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm"> http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm to find a version backlevel.
Note that it does not understand JHymn aid music piracy, but contradicts with the iTunes user agreement, and may not be legal in your country. You should be aware of legalità to circumvent DRM in their country and make their own decision if the JHymn software using is right for you. Then use JHymn only to back your own music file, to copy the tracks to an MP3 player, or to play their music on a non-Itunes platform. If you decide against using JHymn may want to look into Tunebite. Those responsible for Tunebite claim that allows you to "completely legal" copies without copy protection protected music files by recording while it is playing.

In Your Honor $11.00 It’s likely that a decade after its debut record this band now has fans who might ask, “You mean Dave Grohl was in a band before the Foo Fighters?” But they, or any Foo followers who pine for the increasingly refined vocals and polished pop-punk uniformity of the first four albums, will swallow this one whole–or at least half. For as much as vocalist/bandleader Grohl and Co. mix a similar concoct… |

Contraband $5.82 Scott Weiland. Slash. Duff McKagen. Matt Sorum. It doesn’t seem like a good idea to put these people in a room together, let alone a band. But it was the same exact explosive element of danger and low I.Q. scores that made both of these players’ former groups–Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N’ Roses–sell billions, so why stand in their way? The music on Contraband sounds appropriately monumental, a… |
