itunes sync ipod to computer

Several months ago I nearly had a heart attack. Not really, but I felt like I was going to have one when my hard drive crashed and my entire music collection (worth thousands of dollars) went with it.

I was slightly relieved when I thought about the fact that most of my music was on my iPod Touch hard drive. As soon as I got my new computer, I downloaded iTunes and planned to download my music back to the new computer. I was shocked when I discovered that iTunes did not have an option to sync from my iPod to iTunes. iTunes only allowed me to transfer data one way – from the iTunes library to the iPod and not vice versa. That was simply not an option as I am sure you can understand.

There’s no doubt I was frustrated beyond belief at this point because I thought I could seriously lose all of my music. I actually contemplated buying a new iPod so I would not have to ever sync the old one, but I eventually thought better of it.

After a day long cooling off period, I started researching other options. I called some local computer repair guys. They were worthless. I made a phone call to the computer store where I purchased my PC and they were no help either.

I then turned to my friend Yahoo (yes, I’m one of the few people out there who actually prefer Yahoo to Google). I quickly read a couple of tutorials for transferring music back to a computer. Although they gave me hope, I was simply too afraid to try any of the techniques because I thought I would screw it all up.

I found the solution when I discovered a software program named Lenogo iPod to Computer Transfer. It was exactly what I wanted. A free demo version was even available for me to test out before buying anything. Without a moment’s thought, I downloaded the demo version, installed it on my computer and fired it up.

After that, I connected the USB cord from my iPod Touch to the PC. Inside the Lenogo interface, I was able to see all of the songs, playlists and even videos on my iPod. Next I selected a new folder on my Desktop where I wanted to copy my songs to and clicked the button to start transferring. In about 15 to 20 minutes, I was done. All of the data was on my computer and ready to use.

My next step was to run iTunes and import the songs and playlists back into the iTunes library then sync it to my iPod. It was truly a piece of cake. If you find yourself in a similar position, do not panic. All is not lost!
