itunes without quicktime

QuickTime and iTunes problem?
Biggest problem here. I've had iTunes for at least a year, along with an iPod Nano (not video). Then my friend gave me his iPod Nano (Video) and said if I could please get my songs to your iPod. So I connected my iPod to its USB port and iTunes told me I had to install 7.6 to transfer from my iPod to yours. I installed 7.6, and click iTunes. He said that "iTunes can not run without QuickTime. I already had the latest version of QuickTime. So I clicked on QuickTime, and I have a message saying "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000034) Click OK to finish." I knew I would have to reinstall everything. deleted everything related to iTunes, QuickTime, etc. Then I went to Apple.com and re-installed iTunes and QuickTime. The same "iTunes can not run without QuickTime "and" The application failed to initialize "message came up. I have deleted and uninstalled, then reinstalled six times already, and the same is happening, and I'm getting frustrated. Any help for me?
