iTunes 7 problems in Mac OS?

I get the error -200 when trying to open iTunes 7 on my mac. iTunes does not open. I've only read about this problem in windows no mac. I can not reinstall iTunes or Quicktime on my mac – nothing happens when I open the installer package. How I can get itunes to work again on my mac and preserve my music files? mac is so frustrating when compared to windows – I have no idea how to fix!

If the suggestion of Brian N does not work. Download Combo update for your operating system ie 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 the Apple download site and install it. I read on the Apple support forum where someone had the same Fixed problem that you and the update via the Combo update. Indeed, error code -200 means noHardware – Hardware need not sound available [No hardware support for the specified synthesizer]
